A New Song: Time To Change The Tune
We're seeing, yet again, the cumulative results of singing "I Do It My Way" - the world's way - unfolding all around us on every level, political, domestic, personal, corporate. Every system of the world. Everyone has the notion that his own way - interest, plan, purpose, philosophy, agenda - is "the" answer for mankind (where the self serving reality of being top dog is the real driver masked behind these operations and paradigms).
But none of it works! The insanity is that the same anthropocentric ideologies, cloaked as humanitarian or philanthropic, have been offered ad nauseam for millennia, and repeated over and over again to no avail. And we keep falling for it, falling prey to it.
What would happen if, instead of choosing the insanity of always doing what we've always done, and getting what we always get - as if the repetition of error and bad direction is going to make a difference "this time," - we would change our tune, and start singing, "Have Thine Own way, Lord"? The Way that is not our way! The Way of full surrender to God in Christ!
"Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:14-21
The Way of Jesus Christ. Seldom invoked. Almost never tried in a get even top dog world of self interest. Blessed are they who not only hear the Word of God, but keep it. ""My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it." Luke 8:21.
Something ponderable to pray about for starting the weekend. Or better yet, a whole new direction - sung to the melody and rhythm of a new song, one in harmony with the Way and Will of the one we call our Lord.
