Look Up! There's Beauty In The Branches!
Look
Up! There's Beauty In The Branches!
Temperatures are plummeting, but I sat outside this
morning anyway. The covered mug of coffee in my hand quickly chilled. But I stayed out there probably for an hour. It was wonderful! It was raining and there was a lot of thunder that seemed to circle yet never came close over the house. It made me realize
how much more I need to be outdoors in all sorts of weather. Much, much more.
From
the patio perch, I stared up at the changing leaves adorning the little maple. This tree always amazes me with its push of pale, pink leaves turning to a stunning red in the fall. It's about half way finished now.
And there's the somewhat odd squirrel with a black body and a reddish brown tail. Reminds me of some of these people who dye their
hair in 5 or 6 colors that look like they came from the Fruit Loops box. Both amaze me. The squirrel didn't have any choice about being odd.
I love it when the squirrels come to join us for lunch on the ledge outside our window. There's always plenty of spare bread or nuts and seeds to share. Now the little critters sit there
and wait for it. Note to self: Go to farm store for critter supplies. Home entertainment at its best.
God
has made so much beauty in the Creation. It's worth taking time each day to both behold and to bless it, and "... whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever
things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things." Philippians 4:8.
