World Philosophies & So Called Science

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry." 2 Timothy 4:3-5.

This is one of those times. Every practice and belief from world religions is creeping into the minds of many who claim Christ, usually with a view to some sort of "enhancement" for what God has given. These beliefs and practices and techniques are being touted in many churches, hailed by the world, and those who teach these things are regarded as "good pastors," as compared to the guy who sticks with the Gospel and its implications on our lives.

Even those who have been called to powerful ministries and works are succumbing to New Age delusion. Ministry or the work itself becomes the idol, without realizing it. It is subtle. Begun in the Spirit, with the attempts at making it "improved" or better in the flesh. This is tragic.

Did anyone think for a moment that the adversary would not come after anyone called to something powerful? As a roaring lion he comes, seeking whom he may devour. "Great" and small alike. He will come after you in very public work, and he will come after you if you're called humbly to the prayer closet! nowhere does the Serpent not come slitherin' and come hitherin'!

Be aware!!! No one can rest on the laurels of "God has got this." That is foolishness. He does, but has He not made the church to be His very body, His hands and feet, His temple on the earth? We need to come to grips with what that implies, and NEVER take things for granted or fall asleep at our post - however humble or great it may be.

We are here for spiritual warfare. It's time we wake up and realize who the adversary is and how long he's been in the power business on this planet, and how he makes his moves. Otherwise we're dead in the water, or on our way to it. The apostles did not warn about this for nothing!!! Wave after wave of deception will come, and it will hit the church - more likely from within by false teachers than from the outside. So it has always been.

People will follow popes, preachers, and self appointed prophets who come with ear tickling messages that seem so wonderful. They are seducers! People are so conditioned to personality cults that they will blindly follow AND DEFEND such charlatans.

Let us pray for spiritual discernment, understand the Gospel, and stay in God's Word, the Bible, and be ever watchful. Pray without ceasing. That is the directive.

The Serpent is a sidewinder who will often bring his fangs to bear on our Achilles' heel - the point of one's greatest strength. When you feel invincible, or at the height of "success", even in the Lord's calling, you're probably most vulnerable.

There's a very old litany, a part of which prayer reads, curiously, "In all times of our tribulation; in all times of our prosperity ... Help us, Good Lord."

We do well to consider the nature of temptation and the need for discernment ESPECIALLY "in all times of our prosperity," when we're impressed with how well we do, or how much God is giving success.

Consider Solomon's end compared to his wise beginning. Think it can't happen? Guess again.

2 Peter 5:8,9. "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him..."

Job 1:6-8. "One day the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them. 'Where have you come from?' said the LORD to Satan. 'From roaming through the earth,' he replied, 'and walking back and forth in it.' Then the LORD said to Satan, 'Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one on earth like him, a man who is blameless and upright, who fears God and shuns evil.'"

Ponder well...
